Opportunities

As a mom of six children, I have plenty of opportunities for photos and pages. They should be pouring out of me. I do have lots of photos and the ideas swim in my head. One of the ways to get inspiration and ideas is by seeing other layouts. What did they do, why, and how or what would I have done differently?

What kind of scrapper am I? I like to take close ups of faces. I don't like all the mess around the photo (objects, literal mess, other people's arms, hands, etc.)  When I look at scrap pages, I don't like pages with a lot going on. My eye is one for simplicity. One or two photos, stacked elements, lots of white space. That's what I like. Even in my living room, there are few decorative elements. If I had the choice, I would decorate with paint.

I need to start thinking of the story behind the photo. What do I want to tell? What kind of memory do I want to save for my kids when they get older? Sure, close ups are fine, but they don't really tell any kind of story, do they? I can't point out a place, people, or any other detail in the events surrounding the photo.  Only the face. And I don't want pages upon pages of just faces. That would be boring.

I need to look for opportunities to take photos that tell a story. I need to look at the photos and remember the events behind them. Why did I take this particular photo anyway?  And in looking for opportunities and stories, I will get my journaling done a lot easier. It's hared to convey a story when all you have is a face.  Not too much to say about that.

School starts today for 5 of my 6 kids. I will have lots of photo opportunities and they are swirling around in my head. One thing for sure, I'll try to get as few posed shots as possible.  One good thing about digital cameras: you can delete any bad photos if they can't be fixed!

Have a great day!
