As 2010 draws to a close, I’m going to take a few days to think about what I want to do with the future. It is the time of resolutions and goal setting. I have to admit, I’m horrible at keeping resolutions. I quit making resolutions years ago, and knowing myself, I’m not going to make any this year either. I do have ideas like everybody else. Lose weight, get healthy, blah, blah, blah. Why would I start doing it on the magical date of Jan 1 if I hadn’t bothered to before? Not likely.
Call it semantics, but I will set some loose “goals” for the year pertaining to my hobbies. I will stick with it as long as I can, but once it becomes a drag, I will allow myself to stop without feeling guilty or having regrets. Having two months of 365 is better than none, right? I don’t want to stress about resolutions and goals while I’m doing something I enjoy to do. It sucks all the enjoyment out. Hobbies are meant to be stress free and a source of enjoyment and accomplishment, not a soul sucking vortex of guilt and regret and stress.
With that in mind, here are the “goals” I have set for myself this year.
Project 365 This will be a photo everyday with one layout, a summary of sorts, for the week. Seven photos on one page with a brief explanation of what the photos are. This is a great way to capture those everyday moments, random happenings in life. It’s what makes our days and shapes us. GottaPixel is having a P52 with prompts and encouragement and I will probably play along with them there. I did purchase some weekly templates for this too.
Challenges I want to do more challenges. On the Daily Digi site today, the post was all about scrapping with challenges. It’s a way to get your photos scrapped and get some goodies too (a % off coupon to the site store, usually). A lot of them are similar, but they are all fun and a great way to get creative without stress.
Year in review Being a newbie digi scrapper, I had no idea this existed until I saw some templates recently. And I thought, how awesome! It would make a great holiday newsletter, too.
That’s about it for now. I was doing too much in November and with the holidays, I took a short hiatus. I will be back in full scrapping form once the New Year hits and I’m looking forward to meeting my “goals” that I set. It will be fun to look back next year and see how far I’ve come and the photos that I’ve scrapped.
Have a great and Happy New Year!!
